Located in an exquisite parish, less than half a mile from the white sand beaches of the island's west coast and enjoying an elevated position above a protected wildlife zone, the uncompromisingly contemporary design emphasises the vibrant blues and greens of the Caribbean landscape.

THE BAY
Is a staffed property sitting close to the ridge as possible, the infinity pool appears to cascade into the gully, while the building's form echoes the shape of the plot. The central living area is angled to catch the setting sun and views from the bedroom capture the wonderful forested hillsides. Every window and doorway has been precisely positioned to frame a different view – be it a glimpse into another part of the home, the pool or the sea – ensuring the guests are reminded at every turn of this true escape from everyday life. With the vertical planes of glass and seamless limestone flooring running throughout the building from inside to out creating a wonderful sense of space. Being able to retract the floor to ceiling doors of the kitchen opens the area out onto the pool deck for outdoor eating and for that true sense of Caribbean life of enjoying this idyllic location.
I am not entirely sure I want to share this gem with anyone else
First off this is the first time I have bothered to review a holiday accommodation and secondly I am not entirely sure I want to share this gem with anyone else. But in the spirit in which we were received by the most gracious hosts of THE PLANTATION I feel duty bound to take the time to give credit where it is due.
The property itself is of course stunning. Look at the pictures. It does not disappoint in the flesh and nor is it photographed omitting noisy neighbours or ugly views. Secluded, subtle and an oasis of peaceful calm. Most previous reviews mention the fireflies on the lawn of an evening. I now understand why. Impossible to put into words or indeed film or photograph. What most don’t mention is the incredible calm of early morning there.
Good architectural fore thought meant my family of five ‘lived’ easily in this space. The space works very well. Location wise very convenient for Merida and the week barely gave us time to scratch the surface of all the sites within day trip distance. Utterly genuine honest hosts who are as enthused by the houses as we were. A rare find and a true ‘keeper’.

Seaside Paradise
Portuguese paradise. Ten minute walk to a sparkling clean and uncrowded beach and easy access to the small town for shopping and dining. The house itself is tastefully appointed with a homey warmth, no details were spared, including cozy blankets everywhere, indoor and outdoor dining spots, pool toys, beach towels, fully equipped kitchen and so much more. The roof top pool was perfect for post-beach/pre-dinner cocktails! We had reserved bikes that were waiting in the drive on arrival, arranged for a massage therapist to visit the house for massages, and helped with difficult restaurant reservations in Lisbon. The house is perfectly situated for a family vacation, enough community space for everyone to gather but then also enough individual space for each to have time alone.
We will return!

“Great house, great location, great holiday”
We stayed at THE BAY on our 3rd trip to Barbados having stayed at Royal Westmoreland in previous years. We had high expectations given the photos and were not disappointed. As it turns out, the photos don’t do the house full justice.
This is a unique house which we struggled to fault at all. In total we consisted of 6 adults and 2 kids and not once did we feel that we struggled for space. The house is very open and airy and set in a location which captures fantastic views and a nice breeze throughout the day and night. As the other reviews state you couldn’t get much better in terms of location. Short drive to Holetown one way and Mullins another short drive the other way. At the bottom of the hill is a great beach too.
