THE BROOK is a newly restored country styled cottage with all the modern amenities to make a lovely home and location for 8 - 14 guests, dependent on your party size and budget. Children can wander down to the stream and stand on the little jetty and dip their feet in the water or play Pooh sticks from the bridge or go down to the paddock and say hello to the very friendly Gotland sheep and lambs. For the adults why not watch from afar and enjoy sitting on the terrace with a glass of something in the sunshine or play croquet on the lawn with attractive views over the surrounding undulating countryside.

If you are looking for a property that offers everything whether that be walking in the country, coastal or beach paths, cycling on the nearby Macmillan and Jubilee Trail, which have some of the most spectacular Dorset scenery that can be found at Eggardon Hill Fort. Enjoy visiting the ever popular seaside resort of Lyme Regis, 18 miles, with its pretty harbour and Cobb, taking in some stunning coastal scenery and smaller seaside resorts of Charmouth, Eype and West Bay. Within easy driving distance, enjoy Abbotsbury Swannery and Sub Tropical Gardens, RSPB nature reserves at Radipole and Lodmoor, or Weymouth with its many family attractions, as well as the Time Walk, Sea Life and Deep Sea Adventure or slightly further on Monkey World and the Bovington Tank Museum.

Nearby a small a quiet, tranquil understated picturesque village situated in the beautiful Bride Valley. The valley gets its name from the River Bride that meanders from Bridehead, at the head of the valley, down to the sea at Freshwater. The village is steeped in history with archaeological finds going back over 4500 years. Evidence exists of Anglo Saxon and Roman occupation and the village is mentioned in the Doomsday Book.

The village comprises a 13th century St Peter’s church, the first recorded date in the story of the church is AD 987 when Aethelmaer, Duke of Cornwall gave lands and twelve dwellings and the advowson of the church in “Further Brydian” to the Abbey of Cerne which he had recently founded. It is likely therefore that the Abbot took over an existing Saxon church on this site. No trace of this building remains nor of any Norman building which may have succeeded it.The C13th  three-light east window has counterparts in Salisbury Cathedral which was built between 1225 and 1245. The three windows in the north wall are of the same date although the two westernmost of these windows were altered about 1400 and given square heads. The three windows in the south wall were also altered at that time. The chancel door leading to the vestry is C13th  and the chancel arch is modern.

You have a choice of 7 bedrooms on the Jurassic Coast of Dorset and access to the Chesil Beach and the Ridgeway Walk just above the village. The property is self-catering with all the cooking facilities you will require. This is an ideal place to get away from the hurly burly of city life. Great for walkers, cyclists, golfers or sailors or people who just want to relax and explore the beautiful country and seaside. with many more hours of sunshine than the UK average because of the micro-climate. Nearby are Weymouth and Portland with the Sailing Academy in one direction or West Bay, venue for 'Broadchurch' and the nearby lovely golf course, and Lyme Regis. Visit many of the beautiful gardens in the area, including the Abbotsbury Sub-Tropical Gardens. There is also the Swannery nearby where the cygnets are due to hatch during early May. Country walks and famous Jurassic Coast Path as well as the Ridgeway path. There are beautiful walks to St Catherine's Chapel, the Fleet and the coast along the shore for miles while doing a little fossil hunting! If you are interested in surfing or sailing the well known Sailing Academy is about a twenty minute drive away, and we can store your equipment in our barn overnight.
Nearby you will find fabulous farm shops selling local meat, cheeses, butter & eggs, if wanting to eat out you have everything from your local pubs to 5 star restraunts and tea shops serving delicious Dorset cream teas.

The nearest towns are: Dorchester, Bridport, West Bay, each about eleven miles away. Slightly further along the coast are Charmouth and Lyme Regis, Durdle Door, Lulworth, Wool, Wareham. Further inland are well known places such as Cerne Abbas, Mapperton, Forde Abbey, Beaminster.

Guest access
Car parking is on the private driveway. We have a barn where surfboards or bicycles can be stored overnight for security.

Other things to note
You are welcome to smoke in the garden, but please not in the house.
