On the main level is a bright and spacious open plan living room, dining area and a fully equipped kitchen. The living room is built into the rock with sofa, open fireplace, TV and window to the main terrace, also there is a dinning area with table and seating area for 6 and the kitchen with a bar counter separating the dinning area is fully equipped. There is a small office with desk.

Stairs down to the lower floor (Pool level) there are 2 further double bedrooms with en-suite bathrooms and shower room.

Outside there is a large terrace with pergola with comfortable easy sitting areas and dinning area, steps down to a pool area with an infinity pool, terrace and a covered pool house with BBQ and dining table. There is also a shower.

Subtle blend of charm and modern comfort, the house is located a few minutes drive from Maussane, the 18 holes golf course of Manville, Avignon, Pont du Gard, Gordes, Aix and Marseille cities.

This area of Provence boasts history and beautiful scenery not only of the Alpilles hills but also of the ruined castle which dominates the landscape surrounding Les Baux de Provence. The castle can be traced back to the 10th century. The local people finally destroyed it in 1632 to bring an end to the centuries of conflicts, revolts, sieges and wars of religion, which had taken, place there. Today, quaint artisan shops and restaurants line the tiny cobbled streets. A wider range of amenities can be found at Mausanne les Alpilles and at St-Remy-de-Provence, birthplace of Nostradamus, both of which are within easy reach of this villa.  25 minutes drive north from this Les Baux de Provence villa is the medieval Papal city of Avignon, now a UNESCO World Heritage site and site of the world' s biggest gothic palace. The city of Arles is just to the south with an impressive Roman arena, once holding 20,000 spectators. This is the gateway to the wetlands of the Camargue with its diverse wildlife ranging from pink flamingos to white horses and black fighting bulls.

I’ve been to THE RANCH several times

Each time I find something I didn’t before. Its perfect balance of great design, relaxed atmosphere and the wonderful help there make it a place for me to go and unplug. A perfect place to “do nothing” or take day trips to the great ruins, the beach or even Tulum… perfect.

I am not entirely sure I want to share this gem with anyone else

First off this is the first time I have bothered to review a holiday accommodation and secondly I am not entirely sure I want to share this gem with anyone else. But in the spirit in which we were received by the most gracious hosts of THE PLANTATION I feel duty bound to take the time to give credit where it is due.

The property itself is of course stunning. Look at the pictures. It does not disappoint in the flesh and nor is it photographed omitting noisy neighbours or ugly views. Secluded, subtle and an oasis of peaceful calm. Most previous reviews mention the fireflies on the lawn of an evening. I now understand why. Impossible to put into words or indeed film or photograph. What most don’t mention is the incredible calm of early morning there.

Good architectural fore thought meant my family of five ‘lived’ easily in this space. The space works very well. Location wise very convenient for Merida and the week barely gave us time to scratch the surface of all the sites within day trip distance. Utterly genuine honest hosts who are as enthused by the houses as we were. A rare find and a true ‘keeper’.

This house is everything it looks in the pictures and more, the layout around the infinity pool and interior design are second to none but the view from every room is what really makes this house so special. My family and I wanted to stay another week (if not indefinitely!) and the agents for the property are more than helpful to cater to any needs. The main town of St James is close as are all the top restaurants on the island. You will have everything you need here to make the perfect holiday, I know we will be making a re-booking! 5 of 5 stars
