Why do you re-name your properties?

THE properties are private homes, so to help security and privacy for the owner and guest. We do not disclose the true name and location of THE property until a booking is confirmed and payment received at which point we will provide full property details. We can however assure you that the general location portrayed is accurate – where we say that a property is 15 minutes from a specific location, for example, this is the case!

Why don’t you provide a brochure?

This goes against our principles at THE HOME ESCAPE as we pride ourselves on being a paperless and as ‘green’ as can be at all times. Added to this THE portfolio is constantly evolving so it is really important to us that the information we provide you on each property is as current as can be either via our website or on THE iPad in THE property.

How do I know a property is right for me?

THE HOME ESCAPE makes it our business to visit every property in THE portfolio to give you, the customer, the very best information and assurances that the property will meet the highest standard that our customers and home owners deserve. You will see this from the attention to detail reflected in the accurate descriptions film and photography on THE website.

Where can I see further images of the property?

At the top of every property page you can click on the words “View Gallery” and smaller images will appear which you can enlarge and click through.

Is there any flexibility on the arrival day?

Where we can, we work with our guests to make this possible. Late bookings may afford a better level of flexibility depending on availability - the best thing is just ask us on the day.

Can I check in or out at a different time?

Arrival and departure times are set so that THE Team can have THE property at the standard we want our guests to experience. There are occasions when it may be possible for arrival and departure times to be moved – more likely during quieter times of the year or at smaller properties. The best thing to do is ask and we will see what we can do.

Why are shorter stays not available during certain times of the year?

During THE peak season such as holiday periods there is a minimum stay of seven nights at the majority of our properties. Three night stays are available across most of our portfolio outside these times. The reason for this is that our home owners want their properties to be THE very best to offer you, THE guest. To do this, this requires making the most of the popular seasons, to be able to re-invest in the property every year, to ultimately enhance THE guest's experience.

What can I expect as a standard inclusion in THE properties?

THE HOME ESCAPE property will have the following basic supplies to make your stay more comfortable: bed linen, towels, logs (where required but may be charged over and above an initial amount), tea, coffee, store cupboard essentials (oil, salt, pepper, sugar, flour), loo roll, cleaning products, refuse and recycling bags, dishwasher tablets, tea towels. For full list please make an enquiry.

What is provided in the welcome hamper?

All THE properties are supplied with THE welcome hamper consisting of THE bag containing local produce of milk, cakes/biscuits, bread, sausages, cheese, cheese biscuits, eggs, butter, THE coffee, THE jam and wine. THE properties also have tea, sugar, salt, pepper, herbs, spices, olive oil and flour. There is also a local magazine and information what's on.

What are THE extras?

You have the choice of adding something a little extra special to your Home Escape. With notice, we can pretty much arrange anything but for the typical standard services we can provide Artisan kitchen suppers delivered to THE property, a Private chef, Spa treatments, Champagne, Luxury hamper, Chocolates, Flowers, Personal training, Salon and a Shopping service. We also provide THE TUCKBOX [mini bar] that offers chocolate, crisps, nuts, local ale, cider, vodka, apple juice, sparkling water and other drinks. Every penny sold goes to a local charity of the housekeeper's choice. You can find more details of this on THE properties EXTRAS page. Charges may apply.

What is the cautionary deposit and why is it necessary?

THE HOME ESCAPE properties are much loved private homes and the owners have invested a lot of time and money in creating these beautiful spaces. It is therefore important that we protect their properties. THE cautionary deposit is the guests' acceptance that if damage were to occur at the property during their stay that they would be accountable for covering the cost of repair.

Why is there a charge for paying via credit card on PayPal?

This charge is not implemented by THE HOME ESCAPE - it comes directly from the credit card company. If you prefer to avoid the charge, you can pay for your deposit via bank transfer or using a debit card on PayPal.

Do you accept dogs at THE properties and which is a pet-friendly property?

Pet-friendly properties describes those properties where the Owner has indicated that they are willing to consider family pets to stay. Not all our properties are pet-friendly so please check the details against the property of your choice. THE have strict rules when it comes to pets at properties, just ask and we can send you a copy of the details if need be as extra fees may be incurred.

Why do you ask for feedback following our stay?

We want to make our business and properties the very best so it is important to us that you provide us with honest feedback at the end of your stay. This ensures that THE HOME ESCAPE are maintaining the quality of THE properties that we market. We can then take this constructive information and apply this to make our guests' experience the best they deserve.

Would I receive a discount if I booked well in advance or if I wait until the last minute?

We generally do not offer discounts due to the fact that we believe THE properties are very good value for money. Another reason for this is that we want our owners to be able to maintain their properties to the highest standard and keep evolving interiors and technology to provide the best experience for THE guest.

Why do you request the ages and occupation of my group?

Aside from it being an insurance and health and safety requirement that we know who is staying at a property in the instance of fire, THE HOME ESCAPE properties are private homes and owners do like to have an idea of who is staying at THE property. Due to the nature of certain properties, some might have specific property ‘restrictions’ such as ‘no stag or hen groups’ in place. This will be clearly marked on individual property pages.

How do I list my property or properties with THE HOME ESCAPE?

If you have stayed at one of THE properties and think that your own home suits our property portfolio you can use THE Enquiry form on THE website. We are always looking for interesting spaces so do get in touch.

Am I permitted to have guests visit me at THE property?

Friends are able to visit you in the property with prior agreement from the owner. However, they are not allowed to stay overnight unless they have been pre-notified to us on the property Booking Form as members of your party. This is an insurance and health & safety issue and is non-negotiable. Clients will be asked to vacate a property if they do not adhere to this condition of their stay and THE maintain the right to withhold the cautionary deposit if not adhering to these terms.

What age is an infant in order to be classed as a 'baby'?

We class a 'baby’- as a very young child who cannot walk and have to be carried. Since it is generally acknowledged that children begin to stand and take their first steps from about 9 months, we describe any infant under the age of 12 months as a 'baby'.
