Each of the villa’s five suites is individually designed to create wonderfully personal spaces that invite a deep connection to ancient philosophies embracing the timeless wisdom of nature and the beauty of the tropical setting. Every details of Villa Akatsuki’s suites are exquisitely designed to resonate with your core, creating an expression of inner balance that is therapeutically relaxing. With dark hardwood floors, understated yet exquisite design details, as well private balconies and garden settings each suite is an invitingly shaded and cool hideaway space; bespoke bedroom sanctuaries that soothe the senses.
The Bedrooms
The Kokoro (heart) suite, named after the coconut palm in the garden in the middle of the suite, is an uplifting space with a vaulted ceiling and rich burnt orange and deep red tones. Raku on its own floor spies the sparkling sea whilst Mizu, meaning water, overlooks the plunge pool and can be expanding to include the villa’s A-Spa treatment space. Umi translates as ‘ocean’ and is the master suite with a glass wall displaying magnificent views of the seashore, designed so you can look out to the clear waters whilst taking a glorious soak in the suite’s deep tub. Meaning ‘sky’, Sora is a second-floor suite, giving it a hideaway feel.
The A-Spa
The villa’s A-Spa has all the design details of an upscale holistic treatment center with a large whirlpool and doors that open out to a breath of fresh air and a garden view. Asian therapies use essential oils, native fruits and spices, and rare plant essences; evoking a feeling of deep relaxation that detoxifies your whole being; evoking a sense of space, time, and mindful perspective.
The Gym
The newly designed state-of-the-art gym continues the villa’s design and living philosophy and is a work-of-art, surrounded by glass walls, views of greenery, and right by one of the villa’s pools; giving workouts another level of experience that is quite literally reflective.

I am not entirely sure I want to share this gem with anyone else
First off this is the first time I have bothered to review a holiday accommodation and secondly I am not entirely sure I want to share this gem with anyone else. But in the spirit in which we were received by the most gracious hosts of THE PLANTATION I feel duty bound to take the time to give credit where it is due.
The property itself is of course stunning. Look at the pictures. It does not disappoint in the flesh and nor is it photographed omitting noisy neighbours or ugly views. Secluded, subtle and an oasis of peaceful calm. Most previous reviews mention the fireflies on the lawn of an evening. I now understand why. Impossible to put into words or indeed film or photograph. What most don’t mention is the incredible calm of early morning there.
Good architectural fore thought meant my family of five ‘lived’ easily in this space. The space works very well. Location wise very convenient for Merida and the week barely gave us time to scratch the surface of all the sites within day trip distance. Utterly genuine honest hosts who are as enthused by the houses as we were. A rare find and a true ‘keeper’.

I’ve been to THE RANCH several times
Each time I find something I didn’t before. Its perfect balance of great design, relaxed atmosphere and the wonderful help there make it a place for me to go and unplug. A perfect place to “do nothing” or take day trips to the great ruins, the beach or even Tulum… perfect.

What a beautiful house with a gorgeous view facing sun set and rice field; “you can not talk of such a place without crashing your decor, exceptional it is true! Imagine just come face to green rice fields and fields dotted with disheveled huts lonely 180 ° and 400 meters from the best beach on the coast. We had the chance to enjoy this place early June, it was perfect: sunny, lovely beach, warm enough water, very quiet… like a paradise; we would definitively come back to visit.
